Each required licensing course has a Final Exam that must be Proctored.


In order to obtain a Trainee License and start your 2 year apprenticeship you must complete the following courses first:

  • Basic Appraisal Principles   30 hours
  • Basic Appraisal Procedures  30 hours
  • 2018-2019 USPAP  15 hours
  • Supervising the Appraisal Trainee 4 hours


Licensed Level:


  • Residential Report Writing 15 hrs
  • Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approach 30 hrs
  • Residential Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use 15 hrs
  • Residential Cost Approach and Site Valuation 15 hrs


Certified Level:


  • Residential Report Writing 15 hrs
  • Residential Sales Comparison and Income Approach 30 hrs
  • Residential Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use 15 hrs
  • Residential Cost Approach 15 hrs
  • Statistics, Modeling and Finance 15 hrs
  • Advanced Residential Application and Case Studies 15 hrs

Additional Courses required to obtain permission to take the state licensing exam:

Becoming an Appraiser Trainee:

To become an Appraiser Trainee, you must complete the following three courses:

  • Basic Appraisal Principles   30 hours

  • Basic Appraisal Procedures  30 hours

  • Uniformed Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice  15 hours

  • Supervising the Trainee 4 hours

And  complete the state trainee application along with submitting a check to DOL in the amount of $200.00.
